Bottom End Rebuild... How hard?

To remove the flower nut operate the clutch arm by hand and spin it off with your fingers. Air tools make what you’re doing a lot easier.

If you have a center punch try this, punch a spot on the flat side of the nut in a couple of places, sometimes that will make it grip enough to come off.

In the same vein, a big ass pair of vice grips clamped down as hard as you can sometimes will deform the nut enough to force it to grab. Otherwise, you could always risk damaging the magnet (cheap to replace) by prying on the underside of that since you cannot pry the underside of the nut while spinning the nut with a drill. Sometimes you can get the nut to shift up just enough to catch a thread. Or once you split the case (you only need to remove the bits on the other side) start trying to hammer the shaft through, this will shift it and put a ton of pressure on the magnet/nut stack and could help to shift the nut closer to good threads.

It's funny. There is a lock nut under the stuck nut. I have a feeling someone did this before and gave up.
