BRAND NEW engine, sounds like a blender!!

I agree they all rattle a bit, but this guy is like tapping pretty loud. Video posted earlier of it. Oh well, till she blows I guess. Rebuild kits are cheap lol.

I would pay to have my bike sound like that blender!!! Lol

Thank you! I’ll double check the head again before I ride it, but after running it for about 10 minutes, there was no damage to the head. Perhaps it was just slight enough? Either way, I’ll try the second gasket below.

Running it around, I know is bad, but it didn’t seem to hurt performance wise. Still went 25-30mph right out of the box

Update: here some pictures after 15 miles of running the engine. Oddly enough once it’s warm, tapping gets quieter and almost non existent. Run her till she blows! I got my YD100 on another bike anyway, this is only my backup bike.

You could get 2 miles or even 200 miles. Like I'v said eventually one of the two conrod bearings will fail if it's tapping.

Attached gasket template. Local auto store should be able to supply some Felpro Rubber Fiber gasket material 1/32inch thick.

You think it’s tapping the head yet? There isn’t any scoring from what I can see. I can slap an extra head gasket on maybe? I do have some gasket material for the bottom there.

Okay, thanks for the info!! I’ll try it out tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the time you’ve taken to help me out!

did you check for metal in your crank case? If it’s piston clearance it would get worse as the engine gets hot.

I did, I didn’t see any with just taking the jug off anyways. I stuck a magnet down inside and didn’t pick up anything. I’m thinking it’s tapping something, or perhaps just the main bearing is going.

It could be a chunk of aluminum down there... that’s what we had once... wouldn’t get picked up by a magnet.

Once I get my YD100 up and running I’ll have to tear this guy down and really check it out. I’ll try out the extra gasket first here and see what that does.
