Be sure to research and read up on how to reinforce those fenders. Otherwise, it isn't a question about will they be the cause of you being thrown from your bike only when it'll happen???

Thats a sweet deal and maybe put the rest of the muffler on and it might go a little faster or run better.

Much braver than me running those steel wheels with rim brakes.
So I take it disc brakes would be the way to go. Will keep that in mind for my next project; planning on building a way faster one with a bigger budget this was my low budget attempt that doesn’t go fast but at least does great on gas

I actually cut it off after learning the stock mufflers are very restrictive and will cause the exhaust gasket to fail and pre-mature wear on the motor from excessive back pressure. My neighbors would appreciate the noise reduction though lol

I'm not sure why he said that. I've run rim brakes on my mountain bike for years without any issues.

Actually what damages the exhaust gasket is running it without the muffler supported to the frame. The muffler will vibrate and bounce and crush the gasket, what would you think can happen?

I live in the mountains and weigh 250 lbs. For many years I used rim brakes on the LandRider. Though I will say don't cheap out on the pads.
