I have this engine:https://shorturl.at/lZJoi (The amazon url was way too freakin long)
its a H-YEEU branded engine

I want to build an electric start using a pocketbike starter motor, the part that grabs the spinning part of the magneto from a pullstart that broke, a relay and wires, a battery, and button

I dont like having pedals on my bike and I also have no working derailleur or shifter, so every 100 feet the chain just climbs up to the next biggest gear and becomes rock solid from the tension. I tried making a 3d printed dork disc to go in the gears and stop that but it didnt work, and obviously none of the pullstarts work. Here is my list of parts I plan on using: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gD5vf_b4Obe7tNH-Q4g9Ev1XCa2RUu4m3Qvt-ng3CHw/edit?tab=t.0
I don't know enough about electric starts to give input, but it sure looks like a cool idea.
And as far as long links, if you post the whole link on it's own like it'll condense itself. Like this;

Just read the reviews from the Amazon Customers buying this thing...Not too many say it is any good whatsoever.
And now you want to put an electric start on this???...I have a feeling it's gonna cost more than what you think plus I don't think it will work.

For that low of a price, I am afraid your buying nothing but hit or miss junk...If your extremely mechanically inclined and skilled, you could spend many hours to hopefully make this thing half way decent, but I doubt it.

110cc motor
I found this bike back in March 2024 through Facebook marketplace, with a 100cc motor advertised. This motor is 2/3 larger than the one it came with, which has me questioning the Facebook seller. When buying a motor for a bicycle, or one with a motor already on it, keep in mind that you're learning a skill - the mechanical ability to perform upkeep!! 😉
Always carry the tools to work on the whole bike while out riding/traveling the distance, this is a must unless you enjoy long walks pushing a bike. Mixing the oil with the gas, before it goes into the tank, is a must as well. Otherwise, you'll have to hit the fuel release because the oil goes to the bottom of the tank if added after or during fueling.
I've taken this motor+bike on a 20mi round trip tour and a 35mi round trip tour with only the basic nut/bolt re-tightening maintenance required and mixing fuel with oil to put into the gas tank.
Today I ordered new brake/turn lights, rear view mirrors, and not required personal/useful accessories.
I also have a 36-tooth gear on my rear wheel and not the 42-tooth gear that came with the bike.

Safe Travels,
Paul 🙃😉🙂

I always thought a china doll is a china doll lol. Either you get lucky, or you don't.

I don't mean anything by this but you can truncate amazon and ebay links. For ebay delete everything after the number before question mark, or copy up to the question mark to begin with. For example:

The same for amazon. If you use the share option on the site you get a tidy link or there is a slash after the ID.

And google doc links look shady, you have to sign in with a google account which is a relatively common phishing method.

So, if I am reading correctly, you have a china doll, and a shift kit, but your drivetrain needs either repaired or replaced.

You need to decide if you want to run it single speed or to want to work on the drive train. If you go single speed you need to retain the ability to ride your bicycle, like a bicycle. You have to actively put effort into pushing the pedals when you go up hills or at low speeds.

Generally, derailleurs are dead simple, it just shoves the chain over. The same for the shifters, its just a ratchet. The problem gets to being whether or not your components are compatible and the state of the components. If the ratchet is worn, the shifter wont index correctly, if you have a straight cut cogset it wont play nice because indexed shifting is relying on a profile of the cogs, that allow the chain to be on two cogs at once. If everything is bent 3 times over and caked in rust and mud, it wont play nice.

Some pictures would go a long way. You can cut down the pedals if you just add in an electric motor that drives the jackshaft. A 100-200 watt brushed scooter motor can be bought dirt cheap and will turn around 2000 rpm. You will have to raise the rear wheel to start it, but it will start. If you want to go without a crankset, and single speed you will need a phantom 85 or a predator 212 and to gear relatively low. Top speed at 35mph. You need torque to get started, no way around it.

I get more than 35 MPH on my stock Phantom right out of the box...I haven't gone faster than 51 MPH though as I am not comfortable going that fast on a bicycle...It still had throttle left over...lol...My cruising speed a a quarter throttle with my single speed Hyper beach cruiser with the 3 spoke mag wheels and 36 tooth sprocket is 30 to 35 MPH which it can do effortlessly all day long once it is broken in properly without cutting any corners.

My Avenger cruises at 35 way easier than my phantom.

I was advising that if you want to run a single speed motorized bike without pedals, you need a strong motor, with a relatively high reduction ratio. Apologies on the incorrect datum. Assuming a phantom 85, a 26 inch wheel, and a 44 tooth sprocket, thats about 32 mph at 7.5k rpm, and 40mph at 9.5k.

The phantom will pull a wheelie real easy on a 44T. Mine puls alright from a stop without pedal assistance. It's all about the clutch control.

Yep, right after having to put in 6 hours of work on the motor and making a new exhaust system for it...Did I leave anything out???...lol...lol.

Notice that I specifically pointed out mine is STOCK...I didn't have to put 6 hours of work just to get the motor to work correctly and I also didn't have to make a new exhaust for mine either to achive what I do...lol.

Ps...Mine does it Wicked Pissah easy...lol...lol...lol.
