California coast?

Hey guys,
I was thinking of riding down the California coast on either my motorized bike,
or maybe my scooter. Probably the bike, because it would be a lot easier.
Has anyone here done this?
I was thinking SF to LA, as my family lives down there.

What do you think?
Would friction drive work for something like that, or would
I have to do a chain drive system.

Any thoughts?

I will hook up with you in Santa Cruz Ca and ride untill the wheels fall off. There are great state parks to camp at along the way.
