Hello all, I finished putting my first 2 stroke engine kit on, and it would not start. I tested for spark, and got nothing, couldn't figure out what it was, ended up replacing both the CDI and spark plug... still nothing. Used a multimeter to test the CDI and magneto to see if they were working properly, but I can't figure out how to read the multimeter properly (see video attached, a little long, hope that is okay, please turn up audio/volume so you can hear which part I am testing at each point). I am sure all the wiring is connected properly and secure. I have also tested for spark again while the kill switch is unattached to the handlebar. Lastly, the new CDI I got would not fit the spark plug with the metal tip part onto, so I had to unscrew the top silver part of the spark plug, so only the threaded head of the spark plug connected to the CDI spark plug cap (See photos below) Is that what you are supposed to do? Any other ideas of why I am not getting spark, or why the bike is not starting? Thank you all in advance, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
WD

Did you turn the fuel on? The handle on the petcock should run along the fuel flow line. (up and down)

Check that the live wire is attached to the mag side. Front left cover, should be a colored wire. Not the white one.

@Akutey -my readings were all over the place... definitely not zero. I will try your electrical wire method, but what do u mean when u say connect the wire to the groundings of the CDI and magneto, not sure what those are. Are they the black wires coming out of each? Photos are much appreciated!
