Can't get my gas cap off!

I just got the kit in and I pulled the tank out of the box and went to take the cap off and I couldn't. There are two little arrows pointing at two dents in the side of the cap. How do I get it off.

i'm guessing it's just bound up from storage/maybe some paint?

push down hard & give it a firm twist to the left...

I am going to edit augi's instructions a bit.

1. Go to gym & lift some weights
2. Push down hard & give it a firm twist to the left
3. If #2 doesn't work, repeat #1 as necessary



Seriously, try tapping the cap with a rubber mallet. Also, push down VERY hard while simulataneously twisting to the left. While twisting keep downward pressure and it should come loose.

the cap will twist off easily after the tank is mounted. I had 2 just like that!! (both Grubee )

After you unscrew it, pull it up while wiggling the cap. Mine gets a little looser every time. Better than a crotch full of gas.

I'm serious...it'll open when the tank is mounted. Trust me.

I mounted the tank and tried to take the cap off, it was just as hard as it was before but I got it.

Yep, and every time I take the cap off it gets easier.
