Carby CARB

hey, trying to put the engine onto my bike, can the carb fuction without that black plastic 4-pronged thing screwed onto it? can it just be the black filter and the round plastic gaurd?

well, that's what i use, but it'sprob. not the best filter.... the water/moister can get in muh easier without the cover.

Yes it will run that how the old carbies were but liker painoman said not good for wet days without plastic cover as it will absorb moisture

actually, since erlier today, my carb brok just as in the first pic on this link http://motoredbikes.com/viewtopic.php?t=601&highlight=keihin he suggested i just o ring in there and it should be fine, any suggestions?

i was trying to find the pic of the carby with the exposed foam and just a backing plate...anyway, it was what inspired this: http://www.motoredbikes.com/viewtopic.php?t=628

i'll be making a new one soon that has a "hood" on it, so far water has not been a prob, and i've been in the rain. it breaths great, you can feel the flow.
