Old Carb New Carb

I know this has probably been answered somewhere else before, but I see mention of the "updated" carburators. Has there been some modification over the last year or so to the carbs that come with these kits? I have one motor on a bike that runs ok, and another motor in the box ready to put on. Both have the same carb. If there is a new one, is it best just to order it now rather than install my other engine with the "old" carb if that is what it is?

The main difference between the new Chinese carb and the old one is the material the piece that slides up and down is made of....newer carbs are a kind of plastic while the older one has the brass like piece.....I had the old version and had to hone the brass piece to get it to operate freely (Duane at dax gave me that hint)...Later carbs have plastic slide which don't stick or need to be honed....at least the ones I've seen....

A little more description...

Andy - I am not very familiar with the carb. What part slides up and down? I have a choke lever that moves up and down, but seems to work fine. Is that what you are talking about, or is it something internal?

Thanks. I try using search, but it doesn't hit as specifically as I need it to, or I am just not using the right words.

I wonder if this carb would work. e-bay # 230168259465

For Honda. I wonder if it would line up without a manifold for those engines with confined frame room. Of if there's a manofold out there that would work.
The price sure is right.

I have some of the Grube carb kits. If you are interested, either email, or pm me.

HI,
That part that I spoke about moving up and down was the part you had to hook the throttle cable to inside the carb....the barrel shaped piece that moves itself and the needle up and down inside the carb when you twist on the throttle...On older carbs the "barrel" looking piece was made of brass looking metal...on newer carbs the "barrel" piece is made of some type of plastic....
Hope this helps...If not I might try to learn how to post a pic and upload one for you...

I looked back at some of the old posts and found what I needed. Thanks for the help. I am starting to understand these motors now, and this forum has been a big help.
