Carby carby and acceleratorproblems

Ive been having problems with my bike. So i decided to investigate and cause more problems.

I unscrewed the top of the accelerator cable from the carby. And pulled out the spring/needle and washer thing thats inside.

Now i cant get it back in. When ever i put it back in it doesnt allow it to be closed. when i twist the accelerator too slow down the cable just pokes out of the end and it doesnt move the needle in the carby.

does it have to be put in a certain way?
