Hey everyone. I have a beach cruiser that I would like to buy a motor kit for. From what I've read I want to go with a cdhpower pk80 (or super pk80? I'm not sure if they're exactly the same). I saw a kit with a windowed piston, and it got me reading a bit- also saw a kit with a reed valve, but no kit with both.
I don't have a full understanding but from what I've seen on the forums, you have to run the windowed piston and the reed valve together, or it will make the engine not work or perhaps the performance would be negatively affected. So I asked the seller if he could make a posting with both together and they did.
Does this look like a good setup? Would there be a boost in performance with this kit vs a stock kit with normal piston and no valve? Or maybe I'd be just as well off buying a stock kit or even just the valve or windowed piston.
I've also seen a bit about rejetting the carb for this kind of setup as well.. so would I have to buy aftermarket jets or should this work out of the box? The jets are the little screws for adjusting the high and low of the carb right- and not the needle inside of the carb? I don't fully understand the nuances of the carb, but I have successfully worked on dirt bike and goped carbs and got them tuned really nicely through trial and error, but I'm thinking if the jets are wrong or the air fuel ratio is off, no matter how much I try it will probably run poorly.
I used to have a little two stroke bicycle like this as a teen and always had it running nicely through trial and error messing with the little screws etc, done valves on mopeds etc the same way but at this point I want to actually learn the mechanics of things and am not afraid to fiddle with the bike.
Tldr: Should I stick with the stock kit? Or go for the reed valve windowed piston kit- and if I do, will I need to buy more aftermarket parts like jets for the carb to get it running well or at all?
I have attached the link to the kit, as well as a photo of the bike I want to put it on. It's a Sixthreezero brand 7 speed beach cruiser. Thanks for any input! It's appreciated.
