I am attempting to attach a CDI electron ignition coil to the sparkplug on my motor. Both came in a kit, but do not appear to be able to fit together. Is there a certain way to attach the two pieces.

If your spark plug came with the little terminal nut on top (kinda nipple-shaped), unscrew it before trying to put the plastic cap on.

Ok, so I unscrewed that and attached it to the CDI, which is attached to the engine. I still am not getting any sparks, so I'm afraid it might be a bad CDI. Is there any way to test this before just buying a new part?

Get rid of the spark plug lead and cap and replace it with an inductive spark plug lead such as "Magnecor" which is available from SickBikeParts.
Bosch also make an equivalent inductive spark plug lead.

if you don't then your plastic cap will probably break inside - if you do and have no plastic cap, them your rubber cap won't make good contact
