Yeah Alaskavan, that is what I figured would help, but I wasn't sure if anyone tried that. I think that one more rubber ring would be just enough for Scott's chain to clear that tire. Basically, the little rivets are just scraping the tire as the chain goes by.

I flipped the sprocket around! gives me 2/10th's of an inch clearance.
I'll have to file some of the theeth that are snagging on the chain by a hair, but hopefully I'm not pulling at too much of an angle to cause problems.
