The screws on the plate that covers the chain (the clutch lever in attached to it) are on way too tight and I'm afraid of stripping them trying to get them off so I can install the chain, any ideas on how to remove cover or install drive chain without damaging engine parts.

the easy way is to pull the chain apart at the master link, and feed the chain around the sprocket. there is no need to pull the cover off if you do it this way.
you will have to pull the spark plug out and turn the motor over to make the sprocket turn, which will "pull" the chain around it. when i did mine this way, i was able to turn the sprocket on the engine with a small pry bar.

i didnt need to remove the cover, with the clutch pulled in,i fed the chain threw the sprocket and to the back wheel and attached the master link and done. there was no need to remove a sparkplug or anything.
