Chain keeps snapping

so after working on the bike, getting the chain installed at aligned, i realize the chain was rubbing on the tire, decided to ride it down my alley just to see how it would fare and it ran but there was a significant power decrease from the added friction. So my problem now is i have no room to adjust without sacrificing the alignment and ending up right where i started. anyone have any tips on how i could fix this?

In the mean time, lift your bike by the seat and give your rear wheel a spin. Watch the sprocket for wobble, if it wobbles more than a 1/16" it needs to be adjusted.
checked that and there is literally no wobble, turns out i had it a fraction of an inch off so i pushed it closer which seemed to fix the allignment but caused the problem i mentioned above

You will have to stretch the drop outs a bit. A washer inside the sprocket and another outside the sprocket might be enough.

I use the dished sprockets, so it has some adjustment built in depending on which way around it faces.

i think i’ve finally been able to fix it for good, since replacing with a 410 chain there have been some rubbing issues, but nothing that a grinder and some sprocket repositioning couldn’t fix, i’ve rode it a total of a about 20-30 miles in the last couple of days without any issue, it feels a lot better than before and i’m noticing a lot better acceleration, most likely due to there being less stress on the chain. thank you all for the help, the tip about extending the dropouts made it a lot easier to get chain allignment right without having to undo the bolts on the sprocket every time i want to adjust by just adding or removing spacers as needed. i’ll let y’all know if some other bs comes up but for now it’s all working smoothly.
