Chain tensioner

They say the best tensioner is no tensioner. I havent tried it that way yet but that maybe the way to go. Its sooo many different ones to choose from....who knows which ones to choose from.

I absolutely HATE chain tensioners myself...lol...lol...I figure that if they don't need them on motorcycles, then we don't need them on motorised bicycles either...I got rid of my tensioner many years ago when one of those suckers grenaded on me, I immediately took me and my bike home, (the walk of shame...lol.), and immediately took the drive shain and chopped it down to size for an exact fit, also had to take a link out of my pedal chain so it wasn't loose and hanging...lol.

Here is my bike with no tensioners at all just so you can see it is more than possible to do this.

Honestly, no tensioner is the best, but a spring loaded tensioner that mounts to the case in addition is good as well. It eliminates any other chain slap

It is hard to make a no tensioner set up. You get it perfect, then the chain wears in and it is too slack.
If you can't move the motor or put a half link in you are stuck with a tensioner.

Motorcycles do have tensioners. The sliders that move the rear axles are called Tension adjusters. Also proving that fixed tensioners are ideal.

I never get that much slack probably because I buy and use quality chains...I get very little stretch in my chains.

Also one of the reasons I made my own front motor mount, I am able to reposition the motor at will and also tilt back and forth if need be.
