Chain Tensioners

Just had my tensioner come apart on me -- I think I can screw it back together, part of it was touching the wheel/spokes if I saw that correctly. Putting it away for now. Yikes.

All the little test runs sure are paying off before going on the big trips
I had better pull over to the side of the road and do a checkup if I hear anything abnormal.

If I were to build another bike, I'd get one of those elevated front engine mounts so I wouldn't need a tensioner

Idk though, I didn't really play around with the chain tensioners bolts before throwing it on, hopefully I'm still good.

Mine had luckily just come a little bit loose, I screwed it back together and added some thread locker (blue)

I don't know how tight to tighten that top bolt on the slant and the allin screw behind it, tight enough so the white plastic circle still will rotate? That's what I did just now.

Don't make the tension too tight either, every time you a little chain slap it will pull the bracket down. A good 1/2" deflection on the upper run of your chain.

You need to have the correct size washers, if they are too wide it will pinch the outside of the bearing and not turn. The four bolt tensioners work ok just takes some effort to set it up. Don't forget to check it often as there is a possibility of it getting into the spokes and causing a world of trouble.

BTW, good for you to make this happen.
