Stripping my clutch down for clean and adjusting,,
Quick question -
When you undo the centre screw - used for adjusting - and pull off the cluch cover - should there be a spring fitted between the cluch linings and the cover ???
If there should, where can I get one in the UK as there is none on mine !!

some kits come without that spring - I believe it makes the clutch quieter - not hard to find a spring that will fit if you want one, but some folks say you don't really need it

The spring is used to keep the pressure plate from contacting the clutch pads when the clutch is pulled in at the clutch lever.
This prevents unnecessary drag if you need to pedal the bike with the clutch pulled in.

Not having a spring in between the clutch ring gear and pressure plate will allow the pressure plate to lightly rub on the clutch pads, even with the clutch lever pulled in, which will make pedaling the bike a little harder if you have to pedal it home.
