Cool idea (my current bike project)

I dunno dude, it almost looks like you're freakin jinxed when it comes to MaBs. Anyone who's done this knows it's no cakewalk, despite what some folks say, but this, whether hobby or philosophy, takes work. You seem to have a lot of trouble with your bikes, and I'm sorry you have.

Best of luck in your future hobbies.

Have you tried an e bike Will? I know they are rather expensive compared to gas and not as cool sounding but extremely low maintenance. With a sealed bearing hub drive there is no greasing or chain to align or tension, just plug it in when your done. When you leave unplug and turn on and leave. The motor kits themselves are reasonably priced it's the batteries that really drive up the cost.

if you take your time and collect good used or new 18650 Li-ion batteries from old laptops, vape pens all kinda stuff or just buy some decent new ones then buy these few items from this site and buy a batterie case for e-bike like 50$ build atleast the batterie and its could save you 500+ easily this is my idea anyways for when i build my e bike

There's a stealth bomber on CL right now. Idk I'm not really an electric guy I like the sound of a motor. I think no sound can be dangerous sometimes to pesky cagers that won't hear you and such. I'm clearing the garage sold 2 push mowers and put the 2 bikes up.

o the higher power motors do have a certain sound, , maybe you can catch an e Grand Prix race on Fox. it's unsettling at first. but the more you hear it. you kinda dig the electric rpm sound winding up.
the 350w ones most ppl have in town are virtually silent. you want a 1200-1500w now you're talkin.

Well it seems this project is on the rocks. Here are the problems it has given me:

*clone motor case needed filed to fit on golden eagle clutch
*stock tensioner spring became too weak to prevent slippage
*Subaru motor popping spokes at the nipples of stock wheel
*Said Subaru being too slow for road conditions
*clone motor fasteners vibrating loose
*Original and then today new belt both snapping
*Front wheel assembled by bike shop with noticeable wobble $83+ what I spent for rim, original spokes, and hub (they said they woukldn't fit yet Mb rebel said the 254mm would with the hub I bought)
*Excess money spendage

Sigh

It seems this setup was never meant for a motor with a measly 2.1 hp instead of the 1.5 and it is very evident. Take my warning this setup, (Golden eagle bike engines kit) is ONLY good for if you ride in flat or slight uphill areas. Otherwise you will hear the belt slipping and will go 5mph up a hill. :/ if you look back you will see the tensioner being pushed away by the belt under significant load.

A surprisingly amount of hillclimbing/windfighting power can be had out of your lil Golden Eagle setup if you gear the pedal side up, like changing out the pedal crank sprocket for something considerably bigger, like a 52T. Try to shoot for under 0.25:1 on pedal side in top gear, that'll give you good acceleration from 20-30MPH with pedaling. Any pedal torque you can add to the <2HP engines will help a lot.

I just got the ol beach cruiser going today with yes, the HT engine and it was decent carried me up those same hills I was exhausting myself on with no pedals still. the 40mm motors have some decent power. I had bought another carb and it was doing the crazy revving again so I put tape on the intake, seems a little lean might move the needle. I am still working with the motors so stop yelling at me saying HT hater! but only to sell. It has the saucer CNC head NGK plug and 36 tooth sprocket.
