Might be a dumb question but I'm currently rebuilding my engine and without the seals the crankshaft spun 100% freely with no drag or friction with the crank bearings. As far as I can tell the seals need to grip onto the crank in order to actually seal it. However, my crankshaft has a lot of resistance to it now, more than it did before, with the seals. Is this normal? Will it get better after using it?

If it's loose, it's worn out. It will seal the best when it's tight. There won't be any resistance when the motor is running. Did you put a little smear of lube on it when you installed it?

Yeah I put some lube on it. I should be fine then.
