Cronus!

Cronus. He was the chief god of the Titans, the Elder Gods of Greek mythology, and was defeated and supplanted by Zeus (his son), after seizing power himself from his father, Ura*us.

He ruled over the so-called "Golden Age", a time of harmony, peace and plenty.

He is golden. Hear him roar!

Thank you Simple Simon for helping me name my new bike.

And Duane,Thank you is simply not enough.
CRONUS1.JPGCRONUS2.JPG
Duane did all the work, man. I take very little credit.
I DID get that rear fender on there! I needed to clear the sprocket bolt, but you really can't notice it cause the engine kinda screams "HERE I AM!!!"Fender clear.JPG
The thick chain rubbed some on the tire. Remember now Duane had to remove the rubber spacer to clear the coaster arm so it moved the sprocket rather close. But the bike chain is doing it's thing. I really don't think I'll have any issues with this. It's definitely less stress than the stress my Happy Time takes.Bike Chain.JPG
Here he is next to MOOP. Yea,MOOP is really hurting right now. I think he's okay. He knows he's my first. But CRONUS is SUPERIOR!!! Please don't tell MOOP that. That would be the end.W:MOOP.JPG
Look here. Duane moved the rack back simply because he felt it was too close to the seat. I mean it would have been okay. But that's just not good enough. He grabbed a couple more tensioner mounts and moved it back. I tell you,I'm so glad Duane did this install, and he learned from this that cruisers need longer this and longer that.Mount.JPG
Here's the gas line. Duane put a Happy Time line on there. It simply grips better. Again, another example of his perfection. Notice though the lack of a fuel filter.Gas line.JPGThat's no big deal. I can always get one. But there is a pretty good filter at the tank.Filter.JPG

I was in a bit of a hurry today for I had to take my daughter to work so I didn't take any more pictures of Duane nor did I have time to stop at Columbine High School to see that memorial. Duane's not too far from there. But I did manage to ride it some over there.
I tell you. This is NOTHING like MOOP. NOTHING.
It starts real easy,I give it a pedal but you really don't need to (I'm used to MOOP. I feel it has to be easier on the centrifugal clutch in one way or another) And then it just goes. I need to get used to the coaster brake. I find I'm using the front brake pretty often.
This engine is so quiet. this is DEFINITELY the Downtown Bike Trail choice of transportation. And it's so easy to ride that I don't think anyone in my family would have a problem riding this bike. There's a moment that the engine becomes so quiet you can hardly hear it. It's pretty spooky, actually.
I'll still ride MOOP. MOOP is more REBEL,man. You gotta clutch this and pedal so it won't snag that and watch that tensioner and mix that gas well. And it's frame mounted so it's HAR HAR HAR!![Tim Allen]

But CRONUS is simply...MAJESTIC. It GLIDES. It says "I belong on the trail"

Tomorrow I'm gonna do some riding. A few miles at a time. I'll pack a lunch so I'll eat at the park. Then I'll check this and tighten that. Really there's not much. I mean I could carry only a 1/2 inch wrench in my pocket and if my tires don't blow that's all I need.

This is Duane's install. And he rode it too.

Duane rode my bike.

I think that ROOLS.

Oh and another thing. I told Duane yesterday about my chain breaking on MOOP. He gives me another chain.
Simply CLASS.

I know it's still early days but have u any idea how many Mls u get per tank & also the capacity of the tank?

Duane told me it's best to get a speedometer cause range is about 30 miles. The speedometer is so I can see when I'm approaching 30 miles cause no way I'm gonna know how much I got left unless I stop often and see. The capacity is one liter or half a Happy Time tank. On that 60 miler I think I'm just gonna buy an aluminum fuel bottle to take along,or some quarters cause there are at least two gas stations I can see just off of the bike trail. It would be precious to say "Fill 'er up" and toss three quarters at the man behind the counter. Of course if my tank was completely empty it may take a bit more than a buck the way gas is anymore but 75 cents with some gas left will fill that bad boy up. Gas would have to be 4 bucks a gallon to see a dollar fill up seeing this tank is about 1/4 of a gallon....which would probably be next week the way our $%^& *& ^%$#$%^ &^%$.
I went for a fairly long ride today after my wife and I got back from a weekend Blackhawk Casino trip and rode for about 20 miles. Then I got on MOOP and I almost wasn't used to him.
I made an observation.
Cronus is wine, caviar, classical music and "Pardon me,do you have any Grey Poupon?"
MOOP is BEER,BARBECUE RIBS,ROCK AND ROLL AND ROAD RAGE!
Yes. But for long trips,it's Cronus.
I'll know for sure when I need to go to my agency again to that 60 miler what mileage I'm getting. Remember I like to ride not so fast but then again,Cronus may make me evil. Then I still like to shut her down when I'm rolling down any hills so I might squeeze more than 30 miles to a tank.
We'll just have to wait and see.
I rode about 20 miles today and my tank was a bit over half when I got home. Maybe I rode less than 20. I'll have to do a map quest to be sure.

Right......i'm thinking of a larger tank but NOT on top.If it's below carby level it'll need to be a pumping carb....anyway i'll wait till i get mine and see.

Map quest says 12 miles. My bad. I went 12 miles today(not 20) and I was over half so that 30 mile range sounds about right.
And this engine is gravity fed. I like it better I think when it's gravity fed for less worrying about the possibility of any fuel pump diaphragms failing(gravity fed=no fuel pump like a typical lawn mower engine). But I'm no expert when it comes to the other rack mounts but I like simplicity.
I do want range. And the simplistic way to get it is an auxiliary tank you fill up when you run out of gas.
I figure I found an aluminum fuel bottle at this hunting and fishing store and it holds about a liter. That and a full tank should get me to my agency and back.
The next time my client goes home in a few weeks I usually have the entire day Friday off. Maybe then I'll call Duane about that clutch spring and ride up. That's a long haul, but it don't look too bad on the trail map.

Hey, Large. Tefl and I were both just talking about Cronus, and your fuel tank issue. Go to Wally world, and buy a 1/2 gallon to one gallon bug sprayer with integral pump, put a couple pounds pressure on it before you fire it up, then ride away.

Fuel pump!?! We don't need no steenkin' fuel pump, Mon!

Range is actually a little over...

Range on that little one liter or 1/4 gallon tank is just over 40 miles after break in. Get an odo and when you get to 30 miles, start looking for a filling station because you have around 12 miles or so left. So..At 30 miles, look for a station. That is my rule. You could go to 35 and start looking I guess. So.. The actual range on one tank is over 40 miles. A long way for sure.. Enjoy the ride..

Oh that's right. That's what you told me. It does make more sense now. It still had over half a tank. I just had 30 miles in my mind.

Large, that's going pretty good. I know of only one car type vehicle that gets those type numbers - a 2 cylinder deisel/electric hybrid two-seater tadpole trike coupe: on longer trips runs about 175 mpg

Hey Large, Any ideas on how many miles you have so far and can you tell if it's breaking in yet. If so what differances have you noticed?

It looks great Large! Now all it needs is a 12v head and taillight system...

Maybe down the road but to me riding in the dark is just so dangerous that I don't do it. But then you'll never know when a long ride turns into a longer ride. When I do decide on lights, yea. A 12 volt system should be all I need. 3 hours of lights would be all I need. And charging for extra win.
