As I'm currently building a Schwinn Sidewinder to replace the LandRider, I decided to replace the old sprockets on my custom built 7 speed freewheel
(34,28,24,21,18,15,13). What's needed to build this 7 speed freewheel is an 8 speed SunRace 34-13 freewheel and a SunRace 7 speed 28-14 freewheel.

One might say why not just switch out the shifter for the 8 speed freewheel. Well that's fine if that's what you want to do. This is just another option if you want a wider range for a shifter bike with fewer gears, thus reducing the cross chaining effect. In the past I've built 4 speed freewheels using a 2 stage freewheel the cogs were (34,28,22,16). Yes, that's 666 on the spacing between the cogs.

My reasons for for building the wide range 7 speed freewheel is my Staton Inc shift kit uses triple chainrings. Therefore the shifting will work like this:
1(1-3); 2(3-5); 3(5-7) for 9 non redundant gear ratios. This'll greatly reduce the cross chaining effect since each chainring will only be driving the rear cogs most in line with them. Only cogs (3) and (5) will be used for transitioning chainrings.

Both the SR 7 and 8 speed use lock rings to hold cogs on the freewheel. It's important not to mix the lock rings up. The 8 speed lock ring is slightly deeper and therefore would leave the cogs loose on the 7 speed freewheel instead of being tight. Both freewheels are 3 stages.
