I haven’t changed port timing on these so I’m no help, I did work on the ignition timing and cdi to get better performance and rpm. I built my own cdi that works well but looks like something from road warrior. After I accomplished my test I went back to stock. You can try different magnets from several vendors, you’ll find a wide variety of key slot locations.

A marker, and a used ring will help you keep your lines straight and at the right spot when you make your marks to grind. After figuring out where you want your timing of course.
