Dealers had a "dimpling tool". Experts can tell the difference between factory dimpling and the frame modification done with the tool.

Ahh, now I know exactly what a dimpled frame is, TY all. I've seen plenty of dimples now that you mention it.

Thanks Risk Man. That answered some of my questions. I was going to mention that I have seen both styles of dimpled frames. The flat style & the C style dimpled frames. But I've came across more of the flat style dimpled frames.
It seems b4 1948 alot of the whizzer/whizzer converted bikes used the flat style dimples. Thanks. Appreciate it.

That also explains that bikes built b4 1948 the frames did not have the welded engine brackets or the welded extended brake tab.

I've seen plenty of dimples now that you mention it.
