Hey guys,

Bought an 80cc kit. Link is down below. In the picture it shows what looks to be the U Bolt and steel plate for larger bicycle frames.

Now correct me if I'm wrong. You can either mount the engine right on the frame using the mounts provided (picture down below) OR you can use the U Bolt and steel plate for larger frames, OR are you supposed to use the steel plate and U Bolt regardless?

Link below, it looks like there's is a U Bolt and steel plate in the photo. I seen other listings that include the U Bolt and steel plate.

Edit : While typing this, the seller sent me a photo of the U Bolt included. Is this for the wider frames? I have a Kent Bayside 2600 and what is the middle bolt for?

Yes. The downtube on your frame... appears to be the same (or similar) as my Kent Sea Change. 2". That's too wide for any motor to fit without an additional mount of some sort. The widest you're going to get one of those motors on natively is 1.5" I do believe and that is for only certain types. The smaller width mounts on some motors I believe are setup for 1" (or is it 1.25") mounts (correct me if i am wrong guys, as y'all know I'm a newb here).

:)

EDIT: Here is my Kent Sea Change with the universal mount I chose. It works... there are better ones out there. I like the look of the Sick Bike Parts one (for example).

Thanks for the information brother.

Do you have any thoughts on the eBay link? It looks like it comes with it but im not sure if that's something else. Are these kits coming with universal mounts?

I can't say all of them do but mine came with a universal mounting plate similar to what you have there. I didn't use it though.

In your ebay link the adaptor plate doesn't have a hole for that bolt, you don't need it anyway. Toss the kit U-bolt and replace it with a muffler clamp from your FLAPS. Take the U-bolt with you for proper size. Even if it's too small for your frame, you can use it to find a bigger one. You'll have to enlarge the holes in the plate to get the 3/8" muffler clamp through.
