wow, my post really brought this back to life, great to see bc Im all for its purpose. I saw your statement before AZK and that is why I mentioned that.
There is a group out there called Moped Army, and they seem to be very strong, there are near 40 members at WMU (my college) and I see posters on campus for them all the time.
We provide the same function as a scooter....but we go faster, are more practical, can still get around if were out of fuel, cheaper to own, and we can customize ours more.... What do they have on us? Not much from what I can see. If that group can thrive, I think we could too! GO MABA! (Motor Assisted Bicycle Army) ...I know, I know...cheap ripoff of moped army....but it has a cool acronym!

I think I'm #27

just found this post... count me in... I'm an old retired cop and could act as liason to the local constabulary... in fact if there were anough chapters in different parts of the country, "SquadLeader-In-Charge" (SIC)could have a developed assistance plan for that area... South - Hurricanes; MidWest - Tornadoes; West Coast - Earthquakes... someone could cooridnate with the national red cross <good for P.R.>just some thoughts...eLF

Hi augie this is still your thread

Hello Mr elfdowney! You are finally able to post...cool...whats the first step I can do?
Thanx :D

I can do logos and submit them for ya'll. I'm not sure if I'd join or not.... just never was into the club thing. I guess it depends on the rules, if there were dues or anything like that.

yes I did. Let me draw some up and post or send them to you next week.

sound cool?

YES

Hey I am in!! I would help run the local Orange County Chapter?? AND I would be willing to pay a small membership fee to help this become legit.

I think with the rising cost of gas we would have a legitimate reason to build and ride these bikes. If you look at other countries (like most Asian and European countries) where gas is as high as $10 a gallon [higher considering it's Euro not Dollar and liter not gallon] you will see countless scooters, mopeds, motorcycles and very tiny cars. And that may start to happen in the U.S. very soon. It's worth a shot.

oh heck yes! imagine where this country would be if we hadn't put all our money in the petro-pockets over the last 50 years, it has to start somewhere sometime, right?

elfdowney...i was wondering if you'd care to give us a "cop on the street" post in "motoredbiking laws & legislation" about how you'd handle different encounters with different motoredbikers, "legal" or not?

i'm admin of MBc because of right-place-right-time, but i only consider my "position" one of facilitator...i expect the real leaders of a national or global organization will rise to the top eventually 8)

name idea... it sounds cool and has a cool acronym which i consider to be important. MABU - Motor Assisted Bicycles Underground
