Don't shave the head on your 79cc Predator without.........................

Now that I have your attention, this is very serious. After shaving 0.060 in. off my head I checked to see if the headbolts would bottom out in the bore and the answer is YES ! Not a good thing which makes torquing the bolts useless. It seems like the manufacturer left only a minimal clearance when using the stock head. When you shave it the bolt goes deeper into the hole. Two bolts go into open holes so there no issue there, but the other two either need to be ground down 1/16 of an inch or you can put two metric stainless washer on each bolt.

I wonder if it would be worthwhile to swap to studs. But it might make removing the head with the engine in the bike impossible

It's a thought but I can't see justifying the time and expense. There would be no gain that I can see Gordy.
