Quicker question first : What size screw holds the flower nut in place?

2nd question : I have two engines that have been identical as far as I can telL, until now, one has a slot for the drive gear screw and the other has an Allen type screw head. Does that mean I have two different types of engines or is it a big nothing burger?

as long as they thread and fit smug i don't see a issue on your 2nd question

The screw that holds the flower nut in place is m5 I believe. The bolt that holds the bevel gear on I'm not sure about but I'm sure other members will know for sure. The allen head bolt is a way better idea than the slot screw IMO
You can always pull the jug and see what connecting rod you have if you really want to know if they are different engines

I'll wait until it breaks. A long time ago I learned if it ain't broke, don't break it.

Thanks for the screw size.
