In doing the gas/elect bike, I made an exhaust system and have been thinking for a while about how to do a shield.
I had some expanded aluminum for it, but needed to be easily removed and yet sturdy and simple.
This morning it came to me while in bed- deform places on the shield that will contact the muffler while the rest of the shield is off the surface.
Looks like this, you can see the deformations (caused by a large socket and a ball-pein hammer) at the 2 screw locations and if you look carefully, along the upper area.
For a small pipe that needs protection, the same principle applies.
