It's happening again, just a second ago....if you look at "who's online", all these termites are in the Chat Archive.

Maybe there is a bug in the system and it's calculating the OL number wrong.

Don't know if will happen and hope it does not.
    The chat room goes bad.
People with no intrest in our hobby chating away 24/7.
Will suggest if need be we make this a pay site, just to keep them out.
Don't know about the numbers,or even if guests can use it. If something can go wrong it usally will. Just my 2 cents.

Using the "Who's Online" feature (in the Quick Links menu), it shows that most of the "guests" are viewing the chatbox archive. I didn't even know we can view that chatbox archive.

And another record last night, 1516 at 20:00. OMG could it be the FBI, is MBc's on a watch list? Where is my aluminum foil.

That's not even funny Kerf. These days? Ya never know!

Why would I care, I'm already on three watch list, that I know of. Sux to be me.

Maybe I should explain that last post. Two of those watch list I shouldn't even be on. God as my witness, I thought the Managua Trading Co. was a legitimate investment, I had no knowledge of the coup d'├ętat attempt and the charges were dropped.

This sort of reminds me of moths attracted to the light bulb, these "crawlers"....

It sure bogused up all the popularity measurements.

Like I said, since I don't use the chat feature, it don't matter to me, as long as it acting on a side stage.

But this morning, I watched it keep bumping up:

And thats when I noticed on the control bar:
    Just curious, about the math.

If none of the early A.M. members were in the Chat Room, (and none ever were, I looked "who's online" a few times) how the "guests" were able to keep it full ?

And since the "guests" in the chat archives keep increasing, nearly every early a.m., will that "full"-ness affect the forum.

    Again, just wondering.......

Best bet is for the site admins to add an entry in the robots.txt file that will tell the various crawlers to not look in the directory that deals with the chat box.

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /cgi-bin/
    Disallow: /images/
    Disallow: /tmp/
    Disallow: /private/
Disallow: /<whatever the chatbox folder is>/

This will tell all spiders to look around wherever they want, EXCEPT for the disallowed directories.

Sounds like a fix to me, but I'm adminclueless....

Bumping it up, because flagging it didn't seem to work.....
