After a while from the E world I redid my oldest ebike and scratch built an etrike. The trike is up and running, but still being developed
as to the pedal system. I redid the ebike to share the battery with the trike. They swap quickly. The battery is a 30ah Lifepo.
The trike is very odd, I like stuff that is. The steering is with the rear wheel via a stick. I have hundreds of hours of taildragger aircraft time and a bunch in stick steer boats, so why not? It requires a skilled had on the stick. It has a separate chassis, the body removes with 10 screws and 2 plugs. Its all wood construction with metal parts of course. Once its mastered it a lot of fun. Its very stable as most of the weight is below the axle line. I have put a good many miles on it. So far so good.

Good to see you back after a long while. I was wondering myself the other day? Where & what has Cannonball3 been up too.

Nice work. They Look great.

Have put a lot of riding on the new battery and found it better than expected. This is a throttle only bike with no pedals. I knew a 30ah would have a pretty fair range, I thought maybe 50 mi but to my surprise it did slightly over a hundred with 10% charge left. Thats as low as I would take it. It currently has 57mi on this charge @ 52.6v or mid 60%. Im thinking to limit its range to a 75mi charge cycle taking it easier on the battery. I really like the Lifepo4 chemistry. I had run lipos for years(carefully!). This is so much more laid back.
This bike is more of a range bike than a speedster. It running a 250w geared hub thru a 250w 17amp controller @ 54v off charge. The limited amperage of the controller protects the gears. It will reach 26-27 on a fresh charge as the voltage is there.

The battery is a pouch type instead of cells and weighs only 18lbs. I was amazed it fit into the triangle! Its carried low enough so its hardly noticeable and the bike handles very well. I ride this bike on average 10-15 mi a day. Its about a perfect an ebike as I could want!
