Engine braking question

Hi guys when you turn off ign. and motor is still turning you are washing the rings with fuel ,this is bad .. with the lite valve spring load (stock) its not good to hold them open at mid to upper rpm your just pushing on a small washer to start with.and as lite as the metal is around the exaust manifold you could split it open that only a 500.00 fix and would not be covered under warranty ..Its called abuse..Bill Green Vancouver Whizzer

I think we have Dan convinced that pulling the compression release at speed is not a good idea... But you brought up something that I hadn't thought about; the relatively thin washer that holds the exhaust valve open when you pull the compression release. That would be a part you wouldn't want to beat-up any more than you had to.

The idea of little bits of metal flying off the washer into the valve train otta be enough to scare anyone outa doin' that...

Hi guys On the old heavy pre wc1 whizzers ,yes im talking cast iron whizzers they got away with this kind of thang.but keep in mind thats when cars also had full frames and clothes washers were run with gas,yes im talking eathel//Have fun .Bill
