Engine case casting composition

I KNOW this...lol...This was just my feeble attempt at joking is all...lol.

I never realised that just joking around needed to be explained to make it clear that it is just a joke...lol...lol.

Especially since it is well known here in the forums and elsewhere that I am the class clown and court jester all rolled up into one...lol.
You can joke about something as serious as metallurgy around here.

We don't have any kind of weak pissy beers up here. Even Budweiser is made under license and is 5%. There is a some serious beer drinkers that buy that trash that's 8%.
That 8% swill tastes non alcoholic beer with a shot of moonshine added, ask me how I know this.

What little I know about about casting, you are best to start with a high quality casting, like an aluminum manifold. Don't use extruded metal or any salvaged bits and chunks.

Also repeated melting can add too much hydrogen to the metal. The trick is to add a little simple pure washing soda wrapped in aluminum foil stirred into the molten metal. It will bubble and spit releasing the hydrogen from the metal.

Also many on the tube use too large a sprue. The trick to pouring is to not allow air to enter the pour.
If anyone is interested I could post some great tube vids showing how it should be done.
