Engine Trouble Engine dies at idle once warmed up.

Yes, that's what I mean. Thoughts?
RTV may work for a bit but really the case needs to be seperated and the gasket replaced to fix it properly, using the RTV may allow you to get some use out of it before having to change the gasket. You shouldn't leave it to long though.

Well, I bought this kit from bikeberry last June and they have a 6 month warranty, so have contacted them about it. I guess, alternatively, I should look for a case half gasket as well. Bummer.

Uggh...looks like a job for a pretty experiened builder. We'll see how this RTV hold and hopefully bikeberry will send a new engine.

.

Thanks, guys! Can't tell you how long I've been trying to figure this out.

Put the c-clip at it's highest position and went down to .070 and a worked my way back up to .075 where it seemed to run the best overall. Good WOT and it's idling well and responding to the idle speed screw, which I hadn't seen much of before. Pretty nice when an engine worx!

So, that let me spray a little carb cleaner around here and there and I found that the half gasket right under the air filter must have an air leak because spraying fluid there almost made the engine die. What's the fix there? RTV sealant?

I'm guessing I'll be jetting back down when I fix these leaks...
Did you isolate the air filter from the spray of water? Or can you actualy see there is a break in the gasket?

That's a VERY good point. No, I did not see a break in the gasket. I will do this again in a few days when I get home and cut off both ends of a plastic bottle or something and tape around air filter or maybe some tubing of the right ID. Any better ideas?

It did make sense that something else was leaking because I was using a .075 jet to get it to run right and everybody says that's way too much.

I've never had a case gasket leak at the back of the case, but the ones I have had at the front showed themselves clearly. I think they would do the same at the rear unless they were in the clutch housing area and it's doubtful a spray bottle would have effected that.View media item 60520View media item 60521

OK. So in that first pic it looks like I'm seeing oil mix leaking from the gasket, right? That crossed my mind, but I forgot to ask because my gasket is dry in the area that I thought was 'leaking'...which lends more credence to the idea that carb cleaner was getting sucked into the air filter. Basically, if I have gaskets that are leaking, I should see some oil mix coming out, right? Had a leaking head gasket a few months ago and that was obvious. Not seeing anything obvious in that way.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the help here.
