Engine Knocking Sound After Sprocket Change – Need Help!

Valve clatter - Valve rattle
But never heard it called valve rattle until just now :LOL:

Valve rattle - When ya wiggle the valve with your fingers it rattles because of excessive valve guide clearance :LOL:
Yeah, I just made that up :ROFLMAO:

I found the issue, everyone! It was the transmission belt. I'm not entirely sure how it was causing the sound, but the problem is fixed now.

Here’s the bad portion of the belt:

And here’s a normal portion of the belt:

Somehow, the engine axle wasn’t making proper contact with the damaged part of the belt. When it suddenly gripped the good section, it likely caused the sound due to a jolting force.

Glad you found the problem. Here's what you're looking for. Theses numbers should be on your old belt. Double check them. This is the belt for my transmission with the 100 tooth sprocket. D&D Power Drive (on Amazon) is only one supplier The Gates brand should be a much better quality.

Synchronous timing belt number HTD 575-5M-15
HDT=Gates trademark 575=length 5M=Pitch 15= Width
Fiberglass reinforcing

Universal rule for tension is 1/64” deflection for every inch
between contact points. Mine is set to 1/16”
