Engine locks up

When I try to start the engine locks up if I release the clutch and lean on the seat and push the bike backwards a few feet then I can usually start it
 
Is your chain too loose? If it is, it can doubke in on itself where it enters the engine and jam. Rolling backward can fix it, or unjam it as long as its not jammed to hard. If the chain has too much play this is likely the issue.

Mine did this too at one point. Took off the clutch arm plate, and chain was bound up. Tighten the chain. For me a quick fix without taking off the plate, was sticking a long flat head down there and pushing the chain up. Popped right back on. (y)
