Engine on Motorized Bicycle Revs Way too High, will not idle

Does anybody know why a 2-stroke engine would idle very high? It has plenty of power, but it will not idle. It revs way, way high. If anybody knows why, please respond. Thank you! I miss my bike alot :-(

If your talking about a HT engine there's a good chance it won't idle properly because your taking-in unwanted air from outside...make sure your gaskets don't have any leaks and you've o-ringed the carby and got the needle on the right setting.
These HT carby's are pretty basic so u can only get them to a reasonable state of tune.

I know its obvious but are you sure that the carb slider is going all the way to the bottom at idle? Make sure that the idle screw isn't in too far and that there is slack in the throttle cable when released. Take the air cleaner off and look down the carb throat to check the throttle position.

the fastest way to know for certain you have an air leak, is, to hit full choke on a warm engine
if it doesn't die immediately, there is a leak
