From what I learned in college, ethanol is bad for engines that aren't designed for it. It's mostly the rubber parts in the carburetors, what resists gasoline, and what resists ethanol are completely different. And for a number of other reasons, and because these engines don't use much gas, and I have to mix it, anyway, I wash that stuff out of my pump gas. It's just a matter of putting a gallon and a half of gas in the can, then adding another 1/2 gallon of water, and shaking it up, letting it settle, then pouring off the gasoline off the top into another can. This works, since gasoline and water don't mix, and alcohol is far more attracted to water than gasoline. If you put the water in, first, and mark the level, then add the gasoline, and mark the level, you'll see that the water level gets a bit higher, whilst the overall level stays the same, that's the ethanol trading places.
