So rather than dredge up an old and long thread, lets pick up where I am now.

Had a solid exhaust, it got old and crapafied, it was suggested I get one with a long flexible pipe. Did.
Got it on, but.... the pipe isn't quite as close to the bike frame as my old one. So while riding, especially on long rides, I will often straighten and lock one leg, rest my weight on it for a bit, then switch. BUT if I do that now, I have to be real careful not to touch that blasted hot pipe.
I'm far enough away from the exhaust part, it's just a section of the pipe that can hit my upper leg. Is there such a thing as a wrap, or some kind of heat blocking thing I can put on oh, about a 6" section of that flex pipe?

I'll attach before and after photos.

There are exhaust wraps you can buy, ugly fiberglass stuff. You can get a heat shield from a pit bike and strap it to your pipe. I would just run the exhaust down the front of the bike and underneath away from my body. You can keep it in place with some plumber all round, maybe just above your kick stand.

I would bring the exhaust pipe down along the down tube & tuck it under the transmission, then along the bottom wheel stay. Kinda like this. Sorry for my poor drawing skills. Trying to learn a new phone

Yeah, I know I don't have a Flex pipe but this is the exhaust pipe routing Diesel Tech is suggesting

I bought some of the wrap but haven't used it yet. You tube has some videos on how to do it. Some of the better ones suggest to wet it down and start from the back. Once it drys it will tighten up also keeps the dust down.

Guys, forget about moving the exhaust. I tried every configuration I could think of. The flex pipe is too long to mount it the same as my old one, and too short to go low as pictured. (your drawing skills are fine btw, enough to get the point across. It would be nice but it doesn't reach.)

Now if there is a thing as a separate section of flex pipe I could elongate the thing with, THAT might work too. I could then move the exhaust further back and make the pipe go low as you suggested. But as it is? Too short to do that. Again I tried, the exhaust lines up right where the pedals have to go. Just a tad too short.

I personally like the titanium wraps, but those are worse than working with fiberglass.
DEI Titanium wrap is great to work with. Way better than fiberglass. The hard part is getting the wrap tight since you don't get it wet like fiberglass. Once it heat cures it never moves. That is also the downside, because once it hardens it has to be ruined to remove it.

Pfft I didn't know I was supposed to wet the fiberglass wrap first
