So today i went for a ride on my MB like any other day. The engine has about 600km on it and while riding at around 40km/h i heard a clunk and the engine sputtered a bit for a second. 4km later while going around 50km/h it sputtered again and i pulled in the clutch. It struggled to idle and it shut off. Checked compression and there was none! Got home, took it apart and the piston was really sad looking. Took the wrist pin off and pieces of the needle bearing fell out onto the rag i put on the case (incase the wrist pin clips fall into the case). So then i knew that the needle bearing gave out (i gotta say i did run it at high RPM most of the time but nothing my other motors couldnt handle). It was broken in and i started pushing it at around 400km. Always ran with 25:1 mix.
This decided to happen now and couldnt wait 2 more months until i turn 18 so i can take my driving test!!! I cant even get to my summer job now so i need to fix it fast and all pistons i can find take like 3 weeks to get to me. I was looking around the web and found a Husqvarna XP 268 piston with a 50mm bore and 12mm wrist pin. I will go to my friendly chainsaw service and see if i can measure the piston to see if it would work.
My question is if it would work if its a few mms shorter then the original MB piston? Of course the wrist pin hole to piston crown would have to be the exact same i think?
P.S. the cylinder didnt suffer that much damage (small groove that i can just sand down a little bit)
I will se what the seller will say since i messaged him and hopefully we will work something out but i doubt it since the engine aint new. Thinking just to buy a broken scooter that is registered to 25km/h (here you can ride it without any licenses) fix it and de-limit it to go 50km/h with a switch.
