Fasteddys side car build

http://tinyurl.com/yajkqcz

Made a fender for the sidecar and put it on. Used an old piece of duct work for the metal. Tried to solder it but it wan't holding well so I made another fender top and added the skirts off the first fender but riveted them on. Filled the pop rivet holes with JB Weld and sanded them smooth.

Little hard to see the fender on the sidecar but I couldn't get help to carry it out side.

Hope you enjoy it. Putting the decals on the bike tomorrow and hope to have it on it's wheels by this week end and the sidecar attached.

Thanks Tedd. Was thinking that I may need an enclosed trailer to put out of harms way.
Had to repaint the tank halves on the Monark again. !500 wet and dry cuts a little faster than I remembered. The good news is it stops when it gets to metal.

Just put a bunch of photos on Photo Bucket. Still needs work to finish it.
The mounting plate needs more steel in it to stiffen it. The wheels will be Worksman with drum brakes.

The bike may stay like this until fall. I'm going East in early July to see old friends and cousins that I haven't seen in years. Lost a lot of them and I figure I better go and see them before they lose me. Need to figure out if I can afford to finish it on the road if I put it on a trailer and bring it with me and still buy gas.

Decal on the tank is for the Monark made a couple of years before. I didn't think about changing it around before I put it on.

Hope you enjoy it.

Well it's time to wake this up again. Took the summer off and traveled through the US and Canada from coast to coast. Stopped in and saw family and friends and if I said I'd stop in and see you and didn't, don't worry you haven't escaped. There is next year.

Spent the better part of two weeks at Silverbears place, building a sidecar out of half an aluminum canoe. You can see it on his thread 'Firebird, Silverbears Worksman Cruiser" on the Board Trackers and Vintage Motorized Bicycles section of the motorbicycling.com. Lots of photos and a description of what we did and how.

Got home and of course the magic elves hadn't finished the Monark/sidecar build. Took it for a pedal and it became evident that the sidecar was indeed far to heavy to have it free to tilt. I really noticed this was going to be a severe problem when I was headed for the ditch in front on the house as I tried to regain control when the bike had tossed most of me into the sidecar. No I didn't fit.

Did a lot of Silverbears creative staring and slowly figured a way to make it a solid mount without welding tabs to the bike. As you can see I moved it up towards the front so the rear mount is now on the axle. I cut what was the front mount off after I welded the arm on that goes just behind the seat post. The front mount is there just to take the strain off the front of the sidecar.
I put photos of the whole thing on photobucket as usual and will put more on as I get it painted and mounted in the next few days.
I am ordering a battery and tires and a rear wheel from Worksman tomorrow. Hope to have this finished up in the next week and a half so I can get on with another project.

Hope this link to photo bucket works. If not you can use one from further back in the thread until I get this working. As always any questions please feel free to ask and comments are always welcome.

Steve..nice to see some pictures of that fine sidecar and Monarc again..Yes Creative Staring is good..been using that tool for many years..I call it Logistical Planing..

unior,Thank you for your vote of confidence but I'm no metal worker. Spent most of my life working with antique furniture. Don't be afraid to try and make something. Remember you can always start again if it doesn't work. Every time you do something you get that much better.
