I finished my transfer of BBS02B from my trike to my fatbike. The axle mod from California Ebikes worked very well, only one special tool needed, I found for $8.

So now I have two powered bicycles.
But one is technically illegal.

Urban E-Fatbike has a 6-speed cluster, max speed so far 37mph. It can silently run down pedestrians and kiddies on tricycles playing in streets, a legal menace to greenways, sneaky stealth scary fast accel.

Fully legal.
Unless I get caught speeding, I've been riding it in 20mph zones 🤣

Buzzbike also runs its legal 48cc power thru a 6-speed cluster, the one point making it illegal.
Max speed 28mph unless I got a good tailwind.
Good accel, not quite as zippy as Fatbike.
Not permitted on greenways.
Pedestrians and liddle kiddos on tricycles hear it coming a block away.

What makes it illegal, is what it needs to get out of my driveway at 5mph, try climbing 30 degree inclines on a sprocket geared for 28mph sheez.

If I get a ticket or a cop takes my Buzzbike, should I take this tale to the Judge?
My luck, they'd change the laws and take away my Fatbike too.
😪

30° incline??? That'd be around a 67% grade. The steepest paved streets in the world are a 37% grade. Maybe you ment a 30% grade??? That be 13.5° which is very steep for a paved street. Here in Tennessee there's several 30% grade hills where I ride. My new bicycle computer has a gradient meter on it.

Ok, 30% grade.
Me wasn't sure, but I'm eyeballing it.

Yep thats my drive, and at least two steep rural valley runs close to me.

One of them really feels like I could flip backwards on my etrike. Even my truck struggles up it. Haven't tried that one on buzzbike yet.
Last time I did it was FD 25cc. It got pushed a mile up that hill. Good God never again please.

I plan to be making some new videos soon. At my total weight (bike/rider) 340 lbs I've found for 1.6 hp to get up a 30% grade hill with very little pedal assist you need a reduction of 66.79:1. This can give you a speed between 6-8 mph up the hill.

Well anyways maybe I should have edited OP to say 'really steep hills', so I could continue to muse on how an inherently more dangerous electric shifter bicycle is legal, and a mod making a motored bike safer at lower speeds, makes it illegal.

I mean, ebikes are agents of war, haven't you seen those Delfast machines? Sneaky mean. A motored bike can't do this kind of stuff!
Killer ebikes

Left out today for a 750W+10w(2) ride. Factoring in stereo, no engine noise, and over 25mph cruising on fat tires, guess I looked illegal, local cop circled back twice, and waited when I got to red light.

Merged in, hand out, L turn, and a sound of screaming strangling cats (that be Nickelback😁), guess I was Ok, I sped on.

Found some country ridin'. No problems.
'Cept I muted a couple of times cause of vibrating handlebars, yep it was the stereo, vibrates bad as a 2-stroke w a bad CDI 🤣😅🤣

Back to errand runs, fatbike for the city, buzzbike for out here.

I sold buzzbike short. If I let er warm up good b4 I leave, it smokes my hill climb out to street, like it did today.

Bread and chips run. I tell wife leaving for store. She says 'what's that noise....oh...you're riding the noisy bike.'
Yep. I'll ride fatbike where bikes are common. Out here, you NEED the noise.

Then later, joy, locked keys in truck after dropping off wife. I got a campus security cop to follow me back, lights flashing. Fatbike Escort.
Told her I'd try not to outrun her 🤣

Urban Fatbiker....yeah I lost that street cred, but today I started my re-certification, left campus, cut thru a park, headed downtown.

A class II ebike might get me in trouble in parks. Rolled in here doing 25 past the 15mph sign.

A monent of sadness, passing of an era. It closed last year. I remember when it opened. Helped even.

Many a memory I won't speak of, except for statute of limitations, and lots of "no that wasn't me swinging from a lamppost" as a local radio station suggested when playing my request.

That's as far as I went today. But I'm going back this week, all the way to the river if'n I can gits there, tourists everywhere.

Riding in traffic no big deal, I do full blast PAS and run thru gears just to keep up, but its more fun than dodging scooters and pokey B-cycles in the bike lanes.
😍

I'll need both speakers.
And a playlist that's NOT what the tourists came to hear.
Muhuaaaaa!

I think I'll desecrate every new age avant garde structure "art" I see.

Saw this one doing a detour in, told wife I'ma gonna fatbike it as soon as I drop her off.
I did.
