Fix my Whizzer!

I am kind of new to the forum, so may be doing this wrong. Do I need to start a new thred, or is this one OK for the following question:

I am working on a vintage H Whizzer engine. I changed the gasket on the crankcase side plate. The gasket I took off was 0.82 mm measured with a digital calliper. The replacement gasket made from gasket meterial is 0.75 mm thick. Before I attached the side plate, I put some bearing grease on the cam spacer to hold it to the case while I assembled it. The engine is somewhat harder to turn over by hand with the screws tightened than it is without them tightened. Is this normal, or should I get a thicker gasket?

I didn't remember how hard it was to turn over before removing the side plate.
