So I was on my way home, trying to beat the afternoon showers, when all of a sudden my back tire starts sliding around underneath me.

I stopped with a quickness to check it out, and found this baby in my tire:

99516

And I got caught in the rain. So what a lovely day! lol

I have a question for you folks, what are you doing to prevent flats? What type of liner etc?

I need my double kickstand already, so I can change a flat on the road. But money is tight right now.

You can't run a tire liner with a friction drive. It bunches up and folds under the pressure of the roller. You might wanna invest in some Kevlar tires or some Maxxis Hookworms.

Gotcha, I looked into Hookworms but they are too damn big. And my tire is 700x38, pretty sure those only come in 26".

I believe my max tire I can use is 700x45.

I respect Bonefish's opinion on a lot of things but I disagree with his tire liner FD assessment. I've used tire liners along with FD for years now and never an issue. If you air your tire to almost max psi you shouldn't have any issues at all with the liner bunching up. Thorn proof tubes and a kevlar lined tire will make your life much happier.

Is it okay to reuse the tire? It's practically brand new still. What do I do with the hole in the tire?

I've had problems with the tire liner bunching up on a friction drive. It might have been that Slime brand tire liners which suck. If you do try a tire liner, try Mr. Tuffy Brand. For tires, I've heard people liking the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires.

Im trying too sorce foam dirt bike liners for my fat tire Pig bike...

Soft foam so i can float over the frozen kow chips at the farm this winter... Ha 😁👍

I'll have to cut too fit them,,, at least i won't have too worry about a flats...

Planning stages of course 👍👍
Get yourself a can of "Great Stuff" and just replace the air in your tires with that. Float up! 😁(y)
