What's the reasoning why some 2 stroke engines run flattop pistons versus a domed piston? & is there any advantages of running a flattop piston over a domed piston. You always see flattop pistons in chainsaw, weedeaters, & power equipment tools.

I think it's mostly one piece head and cylinder that utilize flat top piston's, chamber design is different and squish is next to nothing with most flat top's. The domed piston and chamber is more suited to higher rpm and proper squish to keep everything under control.

Could a guy run a flattop piston with a properly designed head on these CG engines?
