Bought the bullet train about two weeks ago. I am building it on a cdi power frame with a built-in gas tank. I have it full assembled and it starts. I have oil in the transfer case. Oil in the gas. It idols and revs when I throttle but it doesn't go at all. I don't know what the issue could be. I've email bike Berry but no response yet. I need this for work. So if someone could give me an answer I can run with you'd be a saint in my book. Thank you for you're time.
Well you need fuel, spark and compression to run. If it's "running" then you can assume gas and spark are there. Check your head torque, should be 12 foot pounds, best done with a torque wrench. I myself still lack one, so I tighten as much as I can easily turn it with my wrist twist to where it "stops" and I would need to put my arm into it to get more tight, and then don't, lol...
One of the first things everyone says to do is get an NGK spark plug. The plugs that come with the kits are junk. Chances are, that's not your problem (yet!) but it's one cheap thing to get sorted right off. I forget the exact model plug you need, but I'm sure another member will chime in..?
Check that your carb and intake and exhaust are tight and not leaking. You can use WD40 to spray places leaks could be happening while it runs, and if the speed of the engine changes, then you know you have a leak.
You can compression test the engine if you have a tester, it should read no less than 120 or so. If it's 110 or even down to 90 it will run, but on a "new" engine, if it's under 120, chances are something is a little off...
Then if you are pretty sure you have the leaks sorted, you need to check the plug color, black and sooty indicates a too rich condition, and whitish or grey is too lean. The top of the carb comes off and you can move the c-clip on the notches at the top of the needle, you'll be amazed how much difference that tiny setting can make. The lower the c-clip, the richer the mix, the higher, the leaner. You're looking for a "chocolate milk color on the end of the plug.
There are lots of videos on YouTube about the carb and what it looks like. You just need strong dexterous fingers, and to work in a place where if you drop something you can find it again (easy to do with those tiny parts!)
I would also recommend either non ethanol gas (never less than 32:1 ratio premix), or if you must use ethanol gas, get some fuel stabilizer for 2 strokes and add a bit to each gallon. Crappy gas happens quick with ethanol gas, and you don't use much for one of these, so, I err on the safe side, the stabilizer is cheap and a tiny bit does the trick.
Let us know how the progress goes and best of luck to you!
