Is there any good reason why this rim wouldn't work well with my Phantom bike?

I really... REALLY would like to eliminate the whole disc brake on the front thing if possible. It just seems... a little rinky-dink to me at the speeds we go. Especially considering the "custom" setup involved. So I've been considering a new set of forks with a disc mount... BUT... maybe this bad boy is in order?

I mean... the chances of THAT locking up is pretty slim I'd venture to guess....

Is a rim like that compatible with a standard old school set of forks?

That wheel will require a set of forks with the drum brake holder on it, $70. Less than the wheel is set of forks with disc brake mount.

You can also fabricate the anti- rotation tab on your front fork if you have the ability & resources to do so. I'm running a whizzer drum brake wheel on my Rollfast & it's the only brake it's got.🤣😂🤣 Lmao it tops out at 52mph with a stock briggs flatty, with 22lb valve springs.

I also imagine that the workmans wheel is a superior wheel compared to the whizzer wheel.

Anyone have a close-up shot of a fork with this "anti-rotation tab"?

I wonder if I could get those triple-tree forks in black? EDIT: It appears so!

I thought about that as well. When I had high end scooters capable of 35-40 MPH they had drum brakes on some of them as well, my Solex had a drum on the back that worked great. I have hydro's on my mountain bike, go down a descent with a MTB with mechanical disc's, or rim v-brakes, and it will test your heart rate very quickly. Failures of the front wheel on our MB's seems the most catastrophic, going over the bars at any speed will be a bad outcome.

Absolutely! @ismellnownlatters recent accident has highlighted the potential. There is NO ONE ... of any skill ... that can avoid eating pavement at whatever speed you're going ... if the front rim locks up for some reason. THIS has me worried... as I am relying on my skill to overcome any potential mechanical fault that I may encounter. I do NOT want to stress the "f" out every time I hit the brakes ... and I am right now with my rim brakes on Tang... and I never really stopped to some extent considering the home-made solution I've come up with.

Anyone rocking the "Springer Fork"? How's the ride? Worth the dough? I see this bad boy is (A) black... (B) disc compatible... and (C) threaded. I think it would look pretty damn spanky on the bike to boot! What DOES worry me is... added spots of potential failure. Looks like 4 additional bolts/nuts to monitor... >sigh<

Opinions?

Here is my anti-rotation tab on my homemade springer front fork. It was a lil more involved, because it had to pivot with bottom springer bracket. With a rigid fork of even a factory springer fork it would be simple to fabricate. Notice the yellow spacer, its holding the drum brake anti-rotation tab with a bolt.
