Gas tank design - and build!

Ghetto bikes has an inframe tank that might have the contours to fit, looks close. Pricey but its plug n play.

That tank looks good, but it’s unlikely to fit properly.
All the ready made tanks are either huge, or don’t look good on the bike. At least I don’t think they do.
Looks like I am going to have to make one. Time to brush up on my origami skills.

I bought this little tank a few years ago, was going to put it on another bike, the bike was crap so I never used it. I'm putting it on my new bike.
When I bought it, it was kinda cheap (inexpensive) now they're like $100.

With the current state of California and virus concerns I have more time to work, but no access to the people who I need to help me. My long term goal is to build the frame hugging design. However I also want to get functional so I am considering alternatives. Have a look and tell me what you think.
And for what it’s worth, the ‘keg’ is a 5 liter beer keg- Schwartzbier, Oberon, and several German beers use them. However I don’t think the Heineken or Newcastle type would work well- but maybe, who knows- your mileage, as they say, may vary.

Wow, thanks guys. I didn’t think the keg would get such high marks. I may work with that for now. I can always make the in frame tank later if I want to.
The wood idea is interesting... I do fancy myself as a bit of a woodworker. May give that some thought. An advantage would be some physical protection of the tank. Disadvantage is added bulk. This idea deserves some thought.

Find a plastic jug that is HDPE (High Density Poly Ethylene), design your tank around it. You can fiberglass around it, leaving the opening as your gas cap and making a plug to fit a petcock on the bottom.
