Gas tank leak.

Daaaym that's a nice bike dude. That's what I'm talking bout!!! I was going to upgrade to those rims with disc brakes. But that will have to wait till I buy a good tank. Stupid question how does the tank stay on if it's not bolted? Is it welded?
It can be bolted if you just get a hold of some decent length bolts and nuts and lock washers as the areas designated to hold it down are made with the appropriate holes in mind to do this.

The mounting bolts that come with it are too short to work, at least on my bike...lol...lol.

I have mine holding on with thick black zip ties...lol...lol...Been riding it that way for three years now with no problems...lol.

Here is my tutorial of how I did it and where to get everything needed to do it yourself.

This mine.

The 1 gallon tanks that @DAMIEN1307 mentioned is the same tank that I like to use. I've never had a problem with one.

If you want to use the smaller tanks with the studs there is a trick to help take some stress of the studs. A large fender washer with a nut on each stud up against the tank followed by one of the mount straps, but upside down so it sits on the top of the frame, put that on the bike, second strap below the frame with another nut. This will spread the load around the studs and float the tank off of the frame which relieves some of the stress being put on the studs.

It didn't leak for a long time. Then it had a small leak. I thought I could fix it by tighten the nuts. Nope. It started pouring out from the bolt. So the tank is ruined now huh?

Tightening the mounting nut pulls on the stud causing a leak

The trick to bolting down those CG 1/2 gal tanks is to first but nuts on the mounting studs

I don't have a CG 1/2 gal tank to show how, but here's an example
Now the nut is tightened against another nut, It's not pulling the stud outta the tank

also using some double sided tape will keep the tank from moving

Just to borrow that picture to give a visual of my previous post of how to mount this tank.

Yellow line = Fender washer.

Green arrow = Strap, take a second one and flip it over so the two clamp to each side of the frame tube. You could even use double sided tape on the top strap. This is what "floats" the fuel tank.

Excellent, that's what I forgot to mention was the top bracket, Top and Bottom bracket so the tank floats (y)

I see you already covered it, Oops I missed post#14
