I mounted a chainsaw to the back of my mountain bike with a gear ratio of 10:1. the motor is 35 cc and of course has a clutch, learned my lesson. Is this gear ratio going to be ok? i figured i could pedal up to speed then engage the throttle and it wouldnt tear up the clutch.

Welcome to the forum. You may just have to figure out the best ratio by trial and error.
On my 48cc china motor, I always get moving with pedal power before releasing the clutch.
I would think that a chainsaw would have a pretty strong clutch, compared to a weedeater.
